Project Overview

A building facade contractor in Guangzhou fabricates aluminum curtain wall panels for high-rise commercial towers. After CNC cutting and corner notching, panels have sharp edges and slight burrs that prevent proper clip engagement. Anodizing lines also require a chemically clean surface free of cutting oils and oxides.

Challenges

  • Material sensitivity: aluminum is soft and easily distorted by aggressive abrasive contact.
  • Dimensional tolerance: panels must remain within ±0.5 mm flatness after finishing.
  • Surface cleanliness: anodizing defects occur if residual oils or aluminum dust remain.
  • High mix, low volume: panel sizes change every few days, requiring quick machine setup.

Recommended Machine

We selected the BG-RR-630 Light Laser Cutting Sanding Machine with soft-contact brush rollers and vacuum hold-down conveyor. The 630 mm width handles single panels up to 600 mm, and the light-pressure brush system removes burrs without deforming thin aluminum sheets.

Workflow Integration

  1. Panel Loading – Panels are placed manually on the infeed; pneumatic side guides center them automatically.
  2. Edge Rounding – Soft nylon brushes break sharp edges to a 0.5 mm radius, eliminating cut hazards during installation.
  3. Surface Degreasing – A non-woven flap roller lightly scuffs the surface, removing oxide film and cutting oils.
  4. Vacuum Extraction – A 2.2 kW vacuum port draws aluminum dust into a dedicated filter unit, preventing contamination of the anodizing bath.
  5. Stacking – Finished panels are collected on an outfeed rack, ready for anodizing or PVDF coating.

Results

  • Edge radius held consistently at 0.4–0.6 mm, verified by radius gauge on every 50th panel.
  • Flatness deviation remained under ±0.2 mm, well within architectural tolerance.
  • Anodizing defect rate caused by surface contamination dropped from 8 % to 0.3 %.
  • Setup time between panel sizes reduced to under 5 minutes using digital height adjustment.

Customer Feedback

“We were worried that a sanding machine would warp our thin aluminum panels, but the BG-RR-630 handles them gently. Our anodizing partner even asked what cleaning process we changed because the panels now come out perfectly uniform.” — Factory Manager, Guangzhou Facade Systems Co.
